In 1956 a few young women expressed an interest in bringing Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to the University of Texas at Austin. The following year these women showed their dedication to the project by forming a Delta Interest group. In 1958 the interest group, consisting of six young women, was given permission to colonize. Those six women were: Patricia Brooks, Janie Dotson, Norma Jean Hancock, Barbara Hill, Vivian Kellough, and Virginia Lyons.

Finally on March 26, 1960 the wonderful legacy of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. officially began on the University of Texas at Austin campus in a ceremony held in the auditorium of the Architecture building. Honored by the presence of Soror Founder Myra Davis Hemmings and Soror National Secretary Dr. Ann Campbell, Regional Director of the time Soror Dr. Helen L. Richards installed the Epsilon Beta Chapter. Soror Dr. Lucille Crawford served as Toastmistress of the ceremony. The dream of Epsilon Beta was finally realized and as the twelve charter members were inducted. Those women were Sorors:

Patricia Brooks, Dorothy Carter, Peggy Drake, Mary Lillian Earls, Eva Goins, Ella Harris, Mable Hayden, Barbara Horn, Phyliss Killyon, Velora Sanders, Priscilla Verdon, and Girlene Williams.

From the time Epsilon Beta was installed it has been a wonderful sisterhood striving to uphold the ideals of the founders, and now in the present, it remains a credit unto Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
